Mumbai. Sakal Media Group notched up two awards in the recently concluded Abbys at the Goa Fest 2018 and won two awards for their innovative approaches to the market.
Access to technology gives one access to progress and development. Taking this doctrine, the program Internet Saathi was launched in partnership with the women’s network of Sakal Media Group, Tanishka along with their partners, Google and Tata Trust trained over 4,25,000 women across 3000 villages in Maharashtra to use the computer and gain access to the internet. The crossing of this first step towards digital literacy is important as from here, these women immediately get connected to the world of information and irrespective of their geography, they are now part of the global web users. The access has already lead to success stories where the women have discovered ways and means of how they can better their lives, thus improving not only their own, but also that of the larger community around them.
Sarkarnama, the only political news platform covering Maharashtra State political genre won an award for its digital launch. The political developments of Maharashtra play a key role in national politics and Sarkarnama is the only media of its kind that provides in-depth coverage of the various players and parties in Maharashtra.
